Music City Upsets
Local Hotshot Takes Out John Schmidt
The first upset at the Music City Open occurred earlier this afternoon. Bryce Avila, a proficient road player, defeated Scott Frost in a tight match that ended 11-9.
Frost, last year's defending champion, will play the winner of the match between Steve McDaniels and Lee Uhles on Friday afternoon at 1 PM.
Also, local hotshot Bobby Pickle defeated straight-pool shooter John Schmidt the afternoon round.
Pickle, a resident of Hermitage, TN, said that he was a little anxious because of the snowstorm, arriving two minutes to 3 PM.
He settled down, went to his match, and hit a few balls.
When the match began, he caught a lot of the breaks and took advantage of a mistake or two by Schmidt.
Pickle got up 7-3, then 8-4, and then closed the set out by the resounding score of 11-5.
