One-Loss Bracket Whittles Down in Music City.
The one-loss bracket matches ended for the evening at the Music City Open, leaving in its wake a mere 24 players remaining. Notable matches included a previous champ of this event, Scotty Townsend (pictured to the right), defeating James Miller 11-2; bar box aficionado Barry Emerson over Rick Reed via forfeit; tournament director Scott Smith defeating Ron Banks 11-5; "Mad Max" Eberle over Randy Vaughn 11-7; and Tony Mougey over Chris Nations 11-2.

Tony Mougey, a proficient bar box player, will face Danny Harriman, winner of the 9-ball banks event at the Derby City Classic at 2:30 PM, and the winner will go on to face Jose Parica at 8:30 PM. John Schmidt will square off with Max Eberle at 2:30 PM. Scott Frost, defending champion, will lock horns with Lee Uhles at 4:00 PM. If Frost emerges victorious in his next two matches, it will set up a showdown with local favorite Bobby Pickle at 10:00 PM.

Music City Open Gets Down to 24
This afternoon's matches in the one-loss bracket saw another eight talented players progress further into the money at Music City. Barry Emerson defeated Brian Moore by the tight score of 11-9. "Mad Max" Eberle, runner-up to Shannon Daulton in the Derby City Classic 9-ball event, eliminated John Schmidt 11-4. Rusty Jackson sent Jeff Wade home early after defeating him 11-5. Bar box champ Scotty Townsend eliminated Dino Conjardo 11-6. Danny Harriman, bank pool champion, defeated Tony Mougey by the decisive score of 11-4. Billy Young defeated David Rowell 11-8. Mike Davis eliminated Nicholas Hickerson in a nail biter, winning 11-10. And Scott "The Freezer" Frost, the defending champ, won his match against Billy Bailey, an excellent local player, 11-6.

This will leave eight players in the one-loss bracket. The winners' bracket matches will begin tonight at 8 PM. Cliff Joyner will face Bryce Avila, Shannon Daulton will match up with Scott Hafley, Shawn Putnam will go up against Jimmy Reid, and Rafael Martinez will play Gabe Owen.
In the second day of the Music City Open at JOB Billiards in Nashville, TN, defending champ Scott "The Freezer" Frost is making his way through the winners' bracket. In his last match against feared bar table opponent Scotty Townsend, Frost won by the solid score of 11-7. Frost is in good company in the winners' bracket, with Johnny Archer winning his match against Ron Brumley 11-6, and Jose Parica defeating Rusty Jackson by 11-7. Mike Davis, runner-up to Larry Nevel in November's Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour Championship, defeated Nick Varner in a hill-hill match. Varner attempted a crossbank and scratched, giving Davis ball-in-hand for a hanging 2-9 combination.
So far, the six inches of snow that Nashville has gotten has not caused any forfeits, but there have been approximately 175 traffic accidents reported.
This afternoon's lineup will include matches at 2:30 PM between local player Bobby Pickle and John Schmidt and Amar Kang versus Anthony Birrett.
At 4 PM, Cliff Joyner will face off with David Rowell, while Jose Parica goes up against William Lanna. Frost will also play against Bryce Avila.
5:30 PM matches to watch will be between Shawn Putnam and Danny Harriman, winner of the 9-ball banks event last week at Derby City, and between Tony Mougey and Troy Frank.
