Helena Thornfeldt Captures Music City Women's Title
Thornfeldt defeats Monica Webb
Shannon "The Cannon" Daulton emerged victorious in the semifinal match with Shawn Putnam at the 16th annual Music City Open.
Daulton started off strong, aided by his incredible break, and the match was quickly at 8-5 Daulton.
At this point, Putnam made his move after Daulton missed a bank on the 3 ball, tying the match at 8-all.
From there, Putnam scratched and was never really given much of an opportunity back in the game.
He left Daulton a shot on the 1 ball, allowing Daulton to reach the hill, and then Daulton ran out the next rack for the win, 11-8.
Two-time winner Helena Thornfeldt added another notch to her belt earlier this afternoon, defeating Monica Webb 7-2 in the women's finals at the Music City Open.
The match was at 2-0 Webb when she scratched on the break.
Thornfeldt won the next four racks to bring the score to 4-2.
She pushed out in the next rack, and Webb gave it back to her.
Thornfeldt played safe on the 1 ball, and Webb managed to hit it but left a shot for her opponent, who ran out to bring the score to 5-2.
Thornfeldt scratched on the 5 ball in the next rack; Webb ran out to the 8 ball but drew too far back for position on the 9 ball and scratched, allowing Thornfeldt to reach the hill.
After that it was over; Thornfeldt made two balls on the break and ran out for the win of 7-2.
